Registercheck

Lead engineer of a German company-register data platform: 5.8M companies, a spec-first public API, an MCP server, and LLM extraction with measured accuracy.

Registercheck turns the German commercial register into searchable, structured data: profiles for 5.8 million companies from 118 register courts, the people behind them, register documents, shareholder structures, financial figures and change monitoring. It is used by M&A, compliance, legal and finance teams, through the web app, a REST API, and an MCP server for AI assistants.

I joined Openlaw in April 2026 on beglaubigt.de's data platform, became temporary lead engineer for firma.de in June, and have been lead engineer for Registercheck since September 2026. I own the whole stack: the Next.js app, the Python services, the extraction pipeline and the infrastructure. Product direction comes from the CPO; architecture and delivery are mine.

  • firma.de: moving a 13-year-old site without losing a URL

    Temporary lead engineer · since June 2026

    Cut www.firma.de over to a new Next.js front end with fallback rewrites to the legacy origin, proven by a URL-parity diff: 1,207 URLs identical, 22 explained changes, 0 missing. Before decommissioning the old estate I archived and verified 543 GiB and restore-tested 194 of 194 database tables. Also replaced a third-party cookie banner with a first-party consent setup on all five web surfaces.

  • beglaubigt.de: an MCP server that keeps personal data out of the model

    Founder's associate, then software engineer · since April 2026

    An MCP server that lets founders start a German GmbH or UG from an AI assistant. The assistant only collects business and structure details; identity data and payment happen behind a completion link, so personal data never passes through the model. I also built the partner API docs and the company's data platform (ingestion, 84 dbt models, management dashboards).

Stealth project

  • Keeping more history without paying for it on every query

    Co-founder · since August 2025

    On a stealth-stage data platform with a high-ingest time-series workload, hot reads touched every partition because queries filtered on the wrong column or computed their cutoff inside SQL. Bounding each hot path on the partition key and binding the timestamp cut partitions read per query from 39 to 1 and one cold read from 439 ms to under 5 ms, so hot retention could grow from one week to about six. Older days leave the database only after a checksummed export verifies on two copies. Warm requests didn't get faster; the win is that query cost stopped growing with history.
